BTEC First Certificate in Business Studies

The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC First Certificate is designed to widen participation and provide flexibility to enhance learner attainment at Level 2 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). It is a 3 unit qualification and equivalent to 2 GCSEs.

I want to study an exciting subject, something that is really useful and interesting

This course is for everyone who is interested in the Economy. It is both active and enjoyable. You need to be a good communicator and be able to explain your ideas. You should not be afraid of learning new things but instead be a creative thinker. You will watch programmes like "The Apprentice", "Dragons' Den" and "Working Lunch", and analyse businesses. You will also visit a number of famous businesses yourself such as, Coca Cola, Boomberg, Cadbury's and others.

In the first two units you will be introduced to the world of small businesses and you will learn what makes a successful business person. You will learn all the relevant skills for being successful in the business world such as developing ideas and spotting opportunities. You will also learn about the techniques of marketing and the how to deal with money.

In Unit 3 you will find out how to think like an economist and learn how the economy functions, the government's role in the economy and the impact on business. This includes the study of trade, unemployment, inflation and tax.

You will be assessed by both, course work and exams. Some exams will be multiple-choice.

This course could lead you to study Business, Economics or Accountancy at A level.
