Key Stage 4
This qualification is suitable for students that would like a career in health and social care. Throughout the course you will:
- Learn about health and social care
- Develop skills, knowledge and understanding that will help you to progress
- You will be able to progress from OCR National Certificate in Health and Social Care.
- You could start work as a trainee care assistant
- Enter employment and undertake a related NVQ, for example, NVQ Care or NVQ Early Years Care and Education.
What does it cover?
You will complete 6 units
Mandatory Units
- Unit 1 Preparing to give quality care
- Unit 2 Communicating with service users in care settings
- Unit 3 Practical caring
- Unit 4 Hygiene and safety in care settings
Optional Units
There are 10 units from which you will choose two, these include:
- Health care for children
- Practical first aid in care settings
- Nutrition and cooking for health
- Health care for older service users
- Development and care of young children
- Preparing to work with older service users
- Creative activities with individuals in care settings
- Career planning for the health and social care sectors
- Work experience in health and social care settings
- Preparing to work with people with disabilities
How is the OCR National Certificate in Health and Social Care?
- There are no exams!
- Your work will be assessed by your teachers.
- The work will then be checked by the examining board.
