Students develop an awareness of cultural diversity including national and regional differences; focus on the processes of differentiation and stratification which are central to understanding the contemporary world; and apply their knowledge and understanding of sociology to everyday life.

First Year: AS

• Individuals and Society: 1 hour written paper (33%)
• Culture and Socialisation: 1.5 hour written paper (33%)
• Sociological Research Skills: 1 hour written paper (33%)

Second Year: A2

AS units (50%) plus

• Power and Control: 1 hour written paper (17.5%)
• Inequality and Difference: 1.5 hour written paper (17.5%)
• Applied Research Skills: 1.5 hour written paper (17.5%)
