Development in coming years

The Academy of ICT was launched at QK School four years ago for KS5 students and has been gaining strength ever since. Students now take part in an exciting national initiative through our partnerships with leading national and international companies which provide mentors, guru lectures and paid internships. We are looking to further develop our links with companies to further develop the Academy. Last year we had three students placed in Blue Chip companies. Students gained valuable insight into the world of work and the experience helped to focus them on their chosen career paths.

The ICT faculty is currently working with the Opening Minds faculty to develop a new and exciting curriculum for Year 7 students. Students in Year 7 will continue to follow the ICT National Curriculum but the course will include exciting links to other subjects such as Humanities.

In all the excitement for the London 2012 Olympics our Y11 students will be working on a project that involves them planning a mini-Olympics event.

Beyond QK

The Faculty has close links with the UK Career Academy Foundation for the Academy of ICT.

Our Primary Links Co-ordinator, Clifford Ponde, will continue to work with Primary Schools to teach ICT topics in an informative yet fun way. The teaching will either happen at the primary school or students at the primary school may come to QK School to use the latest software available at our school.

Our Adult Educational Links Co-ordinator, Chrysoulla Theodorou, will continue to work with adults in the local community to help them develop them computer literacy skills.
