Welcome to the AS French course at QK! We will be using the course book Nelson Thornes and Zenith for both AS and A2 and following the AQA syllabus.

AQA - French AS Examinations.

AS Course

Unit 1 = Listening, Reading and Writing.
70% of AS and 35% of A-Level
2 hour written examination.
110 Marks

Unit 2 = Speaking Test.
30% of AS and 15% of A-Level
35 minute speaking test (including 20 minutes of preparation)
50 marks

A2 Course

2 hour 30 mins written examination.
110 Marks

Unit 4 = Speaking Test.
15% of A-Level
35 minute speaking test (including 20 minutes of preparation)
50 marks

What do I need to start?

You will need to have an interest in current affairs and an ability to communicate effectively and confidently. In addition to the Entry Requirement, you need to achieve grade C or better in GCSE French.

Is this course for me?

Yes, if you would like to develop and build on the skills acquired at GCSE as well as gaining an insight into other cultures. The course will also enable you to develop critical insights into the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of countries or communities where French is spoken, enhancing employment prospects. French is highly desirable for some careers such as economics, business, fashion, law and journalism.

What will I learn?

You will:
