Languages in a Business Context
Course outline
The NVQ is based on French in a business context and will involve learning to communicate in a business environment. Studying a Modern Language rewards practical communication skills and adds a European and /or international dimension to your studies.
Units covered - The NVQ will involve learning to communicate in a business environment e.g. answering the phone, writing a business letter and giving business presentations. The course covers:
- Greetings and Introductions
- Working in a hotel / tourist attraction
- Arranging a business trip
- Staying abroad on business
- Working in the tourist industry
- Work Experience abroad
- Presenting your business
- Marketing your product
Who should do this course?
This course is for students who have studied French in years 7 – 9 and who want to continue to learn this language and be able to use these skills in the world of work. This course is particularly suitable to Pathway 2 students who enjoy languages but who may prefer a more vocational approach to language learning.
During the course you will;
- Gain a qualification working at the level of GCSE equivalent to a B grade
- Develop awareness of business culture
- Create greater opportunities and better prospects when looking for a job
- Gain knowledge of job opportunities within the European and International markets
Exams and coursework
The qualification tests all 4 language skills (speaking, reading, listening and writing). It is portfolio based and assessment will be by your teacher and an internal verifier. All units consist of a set of formal assessment tasks/assignments and are 100% coursework.
