Work Experience

Each year Quintin Kynaston School sends over two hundred year ten students into the world of work.

This is typically a new experience for our students and so we devote a lot of time during the school year for preparation. We look at expectations and interview technique as well as more in depth issues such as equal opportunities, financial literacy and trade unions.

We provide a wide variety of placements ranging from nurseries to hospitals, solicitors offices to theatres, sports centres to hotels and the armed forces. The list changes each year and so to ensure an appropriate placement students are advised to be proactive and use our online database; Webview. This is the only system that allows students to both view and apply for jobs through the school. Students are also encouraged to find their own placements and this can be done by completing a Self Placement Form and submitting it to James Flitcroft before February 23rd.

All placements have to undergo a health and safety risk assessment by Westminster’s Education Business Partnership team to ensure that we have taken the best possible care to ensure every child’s safety. It is therefore impossible for us to accept last minute work placements. Any jobs arranged by students or family friends can only be agreed by the submitting of the Self Placement Form before the deadline.

Any queries please contact James Flitcroft, Work Related Learning Coordinator.
