Cadogan Hall Fundraising Event

Kindly Sponsored by Stuprint.com
QK House is delighted to announce that it will be holding a fundraising concert at London’s prestigious Cadogan Hall, home to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Chamber Proms.
QK House has teamed up with BBC Young Musician of the Year winners Mark Simpson and Guy Johnston to bring our audience a repertoire that spans the centuries with pieces by Thomas Adès, Dmitri Shostakovich and Ludvig v. Beethoven.
Our specially brought together orchestra is made up of the UK’s most talented young musicians and the performances of these pieces will be energetic, passionate and vibrant!
The concert aims to demonstrate what young people can achieve if given the help and support that they deserve.
**PLEASE COME ALONG** for a fantastic night of music from Britain’s most talented, young, classical musicians and support QK House.

Waitrose Finchley Road Charity of the Month
Great news! QK House has been nominated by Waitrose Finchley Road to be one of their charities for the month of November!
As you may know, shoppers at Waitrose are allocated green tokens when they pay at the tills, and can then nominate one of three charities during that month by placing the token in the relevant box!

You can now donate online to QK House
Apologies for the lack of a blog entry for the past few months; we have been really busy preparing for the new term.
We have some really exciting things being organised to help fundraise for QK House. Firstly I’m happy to tell you that we have received our Gift Aid number! Although this may sound very unglamorous at the moment, we at QK House are very excited to have this news as it means that we can start taking donations regularly and online, finally! Thank you to all our supporters to this point! So far we have raised in excess of £28,000 in aid of QK House and we are continuing to raise money every month through the generosity of the public. If you would like to donate online click here.
We also have some exciting events in the pipe-line. The details of these exciting events will be released soon so stay tuned for more info on these goings-on.
In addition to these more special one-off events, we are organising a group of sixth formers to help our new fundraising team organise more community and ‘in-house’ events such as fairs, markets and sales! All our welcome to these events so please do come along! Once again, information will be posted about them as soon as possible.
Our Year 10 Community Support Group are organising a presentation to local residents about the QK House project, as well as running in house fundraisers such a cake sales.
QK House to hold evening reception
I am pleased to start this entry off with some fantastic news… we have recently crossed the £25,000 milestone!!! An extremely generous donation from north Bridge House School was just what we needed to help us finally cross that line.
Thank you for all of your kind donations. We are beginning to raise an incredible amount of money which will make a huge difference to the lives of those with considerable barriers to both their learning and their lives.
If you haven’t done so already, please make sure you RSVP to our next event on 30th June, 6.30pm at QK School.
The evening will be a great opportunity for you to learn more about the charity, watch some incredible performances from our students, and let us know how you would like to be involved. Further details of the event can be found on the invite below.
Thank you again for all of your unbelievable support! I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on 30th June and hope for what is set to be an incredible evening!!
Many, many thank you’s…
Jo
(and all who are involved in QK House!)
We are now a Registered Charity!
After what was an extremely busy spring term, and a much needed Easter break – we are so excited to be able to announce that we have finally become a Registered Charity!
All who work tirelessly on the QK House project breathed a huge sigh of relief when the initial email arrived with our Charity Number detailed. I am therefore extremely pleased to announce the following information:
Registered Charity Name: QK House
Registered Charity Number: 1141257
Becoming a registered charity means that we are now able to apply for various funding and grants so fingers crossed we manage to secure some! We are also working on setting up a ‘justgiving’ page which can be used for anyone wanting to sponsor a charity! (Looks like I will be running that marathon after all!)
In other news – we are extremely pleased to inform you that we have secured a date for the next launch event – I say launch as we are now able to hold the event as an official charity which is very exciting!!
The launch event will be held on THURSDAY 30TH JUNE 2011 and I would be delighted if you could come!
The event will provide further information about QK House, where we are at now and our future plans. It will also be a fantastic opportunity to meet with all of the people who have offered time, money, knowhow etc. Further details will be posted in the coming weeks, but please do put the date in your diary!!
Finally, an update on how our fundraising is coming along – recently we crossed the £20K mark which was an incredible feeling! We have a long way to go, and will need as much support as possible in getting there – but I have no doubt in mind about achieving our goal!
Thank you as always for checking in – more updates coming soon!!!
Jo
The application for charitable status goes on!
Hello all,
Thank you once more for checking in on the blog – we have had a fantastic number of subscribers which is brilliant!
As you may be aware, we are currently in the process of obtaining charitable status. Lots of important developments are on hold waiting for the application to go through. As soon as we have confirmation of the status, we will be able to open an official donations page, which means that you will be able to donate online, as currently we are only able to accept cheques addressed to 'QK House.'
Some of the staff at QK School have volunteered to take part in various runs marathons and would like to use QK House as their chosen charity. My hat goes off to these members of staff! I played with the idea of training for such an event, but I don't think I am quite up to it yet – although perhaps this could be an incentive to the donators out there, if we manage to secure a house, I will run the London Marathon!
Again, thank you for following and please do revisit this page soon!
Many many thank you's,
Jo
Welcome to the first QK House blog update!
I hope this will be a vital tool in keeping you updated with all the news and developments surrounding QK House.
I am aiming to update this blog weekly (at the very least!) so please check in as much as you can.
Since our launch in December 2010, we have been inundated with support and advice, and have received lots of extremely generous donations which I have been extremely humbled by. We are just about to reach the 20,000 pound milestone which is a fantastic achievement. Of course we still have a long way to go, so please do donate if you can any amount would be very gratefully received, small or large.
QK House has featured highly in the press over recent months which has been a great way of raising the awareness around the charity. Please have a look at the links to the various articles.
And finally, if you haven't watched it already please do take a look at our video which explains why we started this project in the first place. I am so proud of each and every one of the students who appeared in the film as it took a lot of courage for them to expose their very personal stories to the wider public.
Thank you again for your invaluable support it is very hard to find the words to express how moved I have been.
